We on this occasion would like to draw your attention to matrimonial scams, because the Internet today not only gives us a lot of opportunities in making new friends, but unfortunately it is also a space for criminals. Scammers take advantage of both typical dating sites and apps, as well as social media. The apparent anonymity online makes the task easier for criminals, who can create any identity to commit fraud. Criminals use false stories, made-up facts, the promise of affection, and emotional manipulation to gain the victim’s trust and affection in order to extort money. Characteristics of this type of fraud:

use of false photos,

too quick declarations of affection and the desire to tighten ties,

avoiding meeting in the real world,

asking about savings, financial situation,

complaining about their life difficulties.

It is worth taking care of your safety on the Internet, as both money and various types of personal information can fall prey to scammers. Getting to know other people online is not something to be afraid of, but it is worth exercising far-reaching caution.

Be careful about what you share on the Internet. For any online relationships, keep your personal and financial information to yourself and verify the information that is shared with you.
